WHY YOU SHOULD TAKE A FERRY TO THE GREEK ISLANDS
PEARLS OF THE AEGEAN
Meander Feribot has been crossing the narrow waters between Turkey's Aegean coast and the Greek islands since 1977 — and across nearly five decades, the ferry has remained the fastest, simplest, and most direct way to make the trip.
Samos sits less than an hour from Kusadasi. Lesvos is forty-five minutes from Ayvalik. Kastellorizo, the smallest and easternmost of the islands, lies just twenty minutes from Kas. There are no direct flights from Turkey to any of the six closest Greek islands; the alternative is connecting through Athens, which adds the better part of a day to the journey and considerably more to the cost.
This page explains how ferry travel actually works — from visa requirements at the port to what each route looks like in practice.
